What is a Meat Share?

A Meat Share directly connects farmers to consumers and consumers to their food.
YOU get to invest directly into the farm by owning part of the animals that provide you food.
YOU create a local economy and community.
YOU benefit from discount/ bulk prices.
YOU order it and we raise it.
FARMER only grows what is sold.
FARMER has a working capital pre-season.
FARMER can grow how and what customers want.
ALL are nourishing a relationship between humans, animals and the soil.

When Can I pick up my meat?

Because we raise your animal for you, slaughter on-farm and use a local custom butcher meat shares are sold as a percentage ownership in the live animal.  This means when you make a purchase you are paying for your portion of the live animal, it’s feed costs and veterinary expenses.  At the time of purchase we will already have slaughter dates assigned and know when your meat will be available.  Please note the month in which your meat will be ready for pick-up at the time of ordering.  We will contact you via email or phone with the  exact day/ time for pick as the month comes near.  Feel free to contact us with any questions at any time.

Can I visit the farm?

Of course!  Please come visit our farm, meet us and our animals even before you make a purchase.  See how we manage our land and animals in a way that regenerates the land and at the same time produces the most nutrient dense food. Otherwise, we encourage “shareholders” to schedule a visit  anytime! We also host an annual “Shareholder” Appreciation Burger Night each fall, where we come together as a community and share a meal to celebrate a successful farming year.

Our Mission:

Otter Creek Farm is committed to the stewardship and use of our resources to provide income to regenerate and maintain the opportunities the farm provides for the family, customers and community.

We believe Healthy Soils = Healthy Animals = Healthy People

Certified Animal Welfare Approved

by A Greener World

*The only truly pasture-based welfare label: no cages, crates or feedlots. Not even Certified  Organic can offer this assurance.

*Certifies only independent farms: AGW has no financial incentive in certification, resulting in an  unrivaled level of independence in auditing.

*The only certifier in the U.S. to ensure audited, high-welfare animal management and slaughter.

What this means for you:

Meat, dairy and eggs from animals raised outdoors on pasture or range have known benefits for  our health and the environment.

No added hormones or subtherapeutic antibiotics: Our standards promote and guarantee  responsible farming practices.

Meaningful animal welfare standards: No teeth clipping, tail docking, dehorning or beak  trimming—all common industrial practices.

Transparent and independent: Standards, policies and procedures are all publicly available.

Certified Grassfed

by A Greener World

*Ruminant animals raised outdoors on pasture or range for their entire lives, with a 100  percent grass and forage diet

*Animals raised according to the highest animal welfare and environmental standards.

*High-welfare handling, transport and slaughter of animals—including an annual review  of slaughter facilities.

What this means for you:

Healthy, sustainable food: Grassfed products from animals raised outdoors on pasture and  range and fed a 100 percent grass and forage diet have known benefits for our health and the  environment.

No added hormones or subtherapeutic antibiotics: Certified Grassfed by AGW standards  promote and guarantee responsible farming practices.

Transparent and independent: All standards and policies are publicly available.

The only grassfed label farmers, retailers and consumers can really trust: Not all grassfed  certifications are meeting consumer expectations and some continue to permit highly  questionable practices—including the confinement of ‘grassfed’ animals on dirt feedlots.
